SENIOR PROJECT DESIGNER | 2016 | HOK

The 12 story 440,000 GSF building in the middle of downtown Baltimore acts as a bridge and a backdrop for the urban campus of University of Maryland, Baltimore's expansion initiatives. The 440,000 GSF facility is designed with two distinct forms: a north tower that feature wet labs, animal research facility, nano-chemistry, imaging suites, wet lab support and office spaces for researchers. The building also includes a lower dry lab bar that feature workstations and offices for computational research groups. These two forms are connected by a glass atrium with multiple bridges across it to allow for easy movement between wet lab and dry lab areas. The project includes an outdoor public plaza that serves as an "outdoor living room" for the research scientists, the university students, faculty members and the residents of downtown Baltimore.
