The Integrated Oncology Building (IOB) at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, is envisioned as a transformative environment for cancer care — one that unites cutting-edge medical technology with a human-centered approach to healing. Designed to unfold over two distinct phases, the project establishes a cohesive architectural framework that accommodates both present needs and future growth.
Phase I integrates spaces for patient diagnosis and treatment, clinical laboratories, office and support areas, as well as thoughtfully organized care zones that foster collaboration among medical teams. At the heart of the facility lies a state-of-the-art cancer treatment wing, designed to house Proton and Carbon Ion therapy — among the most advanced modalities in radiation oncology.
The architectural vision balances technical precision with emotional resonance, combining light, landscape, and material warmth to create an uplifting atmosphere that supports both patients and caregivers. Through its spatial clarity and integrated design, the IOB embodies the Mayo Clinic’s commitment to innovation, wellness, and compassionate care.
