The State of Ohio Animal Diseases Diagnostic Laboratory (ADDL) represents a new benchmark in scientific infrastructure for the state—one that unites advanced veterinary diagnostics, biosecurity, and architectural clarity under a singular design vision. Conceived as both a scientific instrument and a civic landmark, the facility is dedicated to protecting Ohio’s livestock, food supply, and public health through cutting-edge research and rapid-response disease diagnostics.
Located on the Ohio Department of Agriculture campus in Reynoldsburg, the new ADDL consolidates multiple testing laboratories and administrative units into one integrated, high-performance facility. Designed to meet the rigorous standards of BSL-3 Ag containment and laboratory best practices, the building supports a broad range of diagnostic disciplines—from virology and bacteriology to pathology and molecular diagnostics. The design ensures operational efficiency, secure workflow segregation, and the adaptability necessary to respond to emerging animal and zoonotic diseases.
