The Corwin, Estes, and Jaynes Education Center is envisioned as a nexus for learning, outreach, and community engagement within the Cameron Park Zoo campus. The design integrates classrooms, offices, flexible event spaces, and advanced technological infrastructure to support both in-person and global remote learning experiences. The architecture reflects a commitment to transparency and accessibility—spaces are organized to enjoy visual connections to the zoo landscape, encouraging interaction between visitors, educators, and wildlife professionals.
Adjacent to the education center, yet functioning as an autonomous facility, the Carol Schmidhauser Veterinary Hospital is designed to accommodate the highest standards of animal care. The hospital includes surgical suites, pharmaceutical storage, diagnostic labs, and climate-controlled holding environments for animals under observation or treatment. Architectural expression emphasizes durability, cleanliness, and spatial efficiency, supporting both clinical precision and humane care.
Together, the two buildings establish a new campus for education and wellness—a place where architecture bridges the realms of public engagement, professional development, and animal health. The ensemble reinforces the zoo’s evolving role as a center of excellence in conservation and learning, providing a resilient framework for growth and innovation for decades to come
